Fifth-Grade Newcomer Breaks 27 Year-Old Record At Finals Of The 44th Annual Colgate Women’s Games

 Brooklyn’s Adilia Trim Breaks Elementary B Division 400 Meters Record 

Adilia Trim, a 5th-grader at PS 288 in Brooklyn ran 59.76 in the Elementary B 400 Meters at the finals of the 44th Annual Colgate Women’s Games, the nation’s largest track and field series for women, breaking a record of 59.80 set by Neffertittii Cooper of Philadelphia in 1991.

Meet Director Cheryl Toussaint said, “Adilia's phenomenal improvement throughout the series which ended with her breaking a 27 year-old record in the 400M shows great promise for this talented newcomer to the Games. She joins a number of athletes whose performances rank among the nation’s best this season."

To date 26 athletes who have participated and gained experience at the Colgate Women’s Games have become Olympians.

Among the 230 finalists, special awards were presented for outstanding talent:

The “Outstanding Competitor at the Finals” trophy was awarded to Dominique Jackson, Bronx, NY

The “Most Improved Competitor” trophy was awarded to Rainn Sheppard, Brooklyn

The “Most Promising Newcomer” trophy was awarded to Adilia Trim, Brooklyn

The "Outstanding Competitor at the Preliminaries and Semi Finals” trophy was awarded to Avery Lewis, West Chester, PA

Complete results for all divisions of the Finals are available at colgategames.com. Participation in the Colgate Women’s Games is completely free. Girls and young women compete within their own age/grade divisions for ribbons, medals and points. Events include 55 meters, 55-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 Meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, high jump and shot put. Top point scorers advance to the Finals where they compete for trophies and educational grants-in-aid from Colgate-Palmolive Company.

The 45th annual Colgate Women's Games will resume next season with four preliminary meets and semifinals at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and finals at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory NYC.
